Synchronised juveniles are supplied for use in OECD guidelines for testing of chemicals:
No 232; Collembolan Reproduction Test in Soil
Eggs laid over 3 days are collected onto egg paper and start to hatch 12 days later. Unhatched eggs are removed after 2 days and the synchronised juveniles are maintained until they are ready for testing as 10 to 12 day old juveniles.
Juveniles are supplied in Petri-dishes, on a charcoal/plaster of Paris medium. They are shipped for delivery on a Tuesday and are ready for testing on a Thursday as 10 to 12 day old juveniles. Other testing days can be accommodated with at least 24 days notice. Synchronised juveniles are usually available every week.
It is recommended that packing tape is removed upon receipt to allow aeration and a few drops of distilled water and a few yeast granules are added. The yeast feed can be supplied with your order.
Maintenance conditions: 20 deg C, 70% relative humidity, 12L:12D photoperiod, 400lux.
