An alternative springtail species with sexual reproduction, rather than parthenogenic.
Synchronised juveniles are supplied for use in OECD guidelines for testing of chemicals:
No 232; Collembolan Reproduction Test in Soil
Eggs laid over 3 days are collected onto egg paper and start to hatch 12 days later. Unhatched eggs are removed after 3 days and the synchronised juveniles are maintained until they are ready for testing as 23 to 26 day old juveniles.
Juveniles are supplied in Petri-dishes, on a charcoal/plaster of Paris medium. At least 40 days notice is required to supply this species.
It is recommended that packing tape is removed upon receipt to allow aeration and a few drops of distilled water and a few yeast granules are added. The yeast feed can be supplied with your order.
Maintenance conditions: 20 deg C, 70% relative humidity, 12L:12D photoperiod, 400lux.
